Press Release – 2021 ESTEN Foundation Bursaries Recipients Announcement
Quebec, February 28, 2022 – The ESTEN Foundation is proud to announce its 2021 bursaries recipients at the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA) Virtual Conference held on February 28, 2022.
Over a dozen applications were submitted by the due date set on December 31, 2021. Bursaries are awarded in two categories: Onsite Wastewater Applied Research and Innovative Projects. The Foundation and members of the Jury wish to thank all participants.
In the Applied Research category, the $1500 bursary is awarded to Mrs Sharon Thomas and her team, researchers at the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, ON) for the research on: Wastewater Treatment for a Household in Mafoluku, Lagos, Nigeria. The recipient of the $500 bursary is Mr Ahmad Rahimpour, researcher at University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB) for the research on: Functionalized polyamide membranes yield suppression of biofilm and planktonic bacteria while retaining flux and selectivity.
In the Innovative Project category, the $1500 bursary is awarded to AGIRO represented by Mrs Marie-Joëlle Desgagné, Project Manager (Québec), Qc) for their Characterization Campaign of autonomous septic installations, citizen awareness and creation of decision support tools for the priorization of interventions in the Lake Saint-Charles. The recipient of the $500 bursary is the Organisme de basin Versant de la Baie Missisquoi represented by Mrs Claudie Laflamme, agronomist (Bedford, Qc) for the research on: Targeted interventions on runoff control and soil conservation.
The ESTEN Foundation is also pleased to announce that applications can now be submitted for the 2022 bursaries. We encourage applicants to submit their research or project on the foundation website at www.estenfoundation.org .
